Objectives

  • to establish photo-doping, charge storage and ‘hot’ electron extraction from metal oxide nanoparticles and to explore the “ease” with which ‘hot’ carriers can be extracted from metal oxide nanoparticles.
  • to implement the previously synthesized nano-manipulators to tune the localized photoluminescence of layered two dimensional (2D) materialswhose emission is exquisitely sensitive to local charges/fields. The aim is to both quantify the metal oxide nanoparticles stored-charge properties and to gain a deeper understanding about the ability to control and extract fundamental 2D optoelectronic properties with the benefit of this contact-less approach.
